A multiplatform not for profit corporation created to explore, memorialize, and celebrate the history of the Emancipation Day celebrations that took place in Windsor, Ontario. Our project focuses on the era between the 1930s to the 1960s. Our mission is to develop a historical drama for television and documentary, supported by the creation of educational resources for the classroom and a digital archive that acts as a repository of this valuable historical information for the public. We further aim to encourage ongoing conversations about these celebrations, and their place within the larger landscape of Canadian history.
Equity
Programs and projects encompass a wide variety of inclusive educational models and strategies.
Partnerships
Deepening relationships and networks across communities, encouraging ongoing conversation and self-reflection.
Healing and Reconciliation
Raising awareness about colonization and its ongoing effects on Black communities by addressing the harms that have been caused by unexamined racial biases in the following cultural sectors: Film and Television, Education and Historical Records and Archives.
